Preserving the past, inspiring the future

Preserving the past, inspiring the future

Background

We acknowledge our Elders who have passed away, and we honor our Bardi Jawi Men and Women for holding our language, law and culture strong. We thank them for their ongoing dedication to learn, practice, and teach through song, dance and stories.

Bardi Jawi people have always maintained culture sitting on country, passing on knowledge the old way. When the communities were established the vision was always to have a Culture Centre.

Today, we must continue the journey to uphold Bardi Jawi tradition and customs, as it makes us who we are. Keeping it strong for future generations.

Our Purpose

Bardi Jawi People come together at the Arts and Culture Hub to carry on our elders' vision, to practice our art, language and culture.

With Gorna Liyarn (good feeling) we share our stories and pass on our culture. Together we create opportunities for our salt water people and grow as Gorna Ambooriny (strong people).

Our Logo

(designed by Ashley Hunter)

Ingarlgalandij represents the ring around the moon. It signals the time for Bardi Jawi people to gather for ceremony. The wet season is here, and the storms are coming.

The ring is our people coming together. The moon is our arts and culture hub — a place where we gather as one.

As a not-for-profit organisation, we are community-owned, governed, and led by Bardi Jawi people. Our hub is a unique and dynamic space offering:

• an Art Gallery
• Creative Studios & Projects
• a Cultural Program
• Cultural Experiences

We are committed to cultural continuity and to creating meaningful social, cultural, and economic opportunities for our saltwater people. All artwork sales directly support Bardi Jawi artists, our broader community programs, and the sustainability of our Hub.

We believe in the power of art, language, and culture to bridge past and present — and to foster deeper understanding, respect, and appreciation for Bardi Jawi ways of life.

We welcome everyone with a genuine interest in Indigenous art and culture to visit, connect with us, share in our stories, and support our community.

We are located in the Dampier Peninsula 220km outside of Broome in the community of Ardyaloon (also known as One Arm Point).
